— Senchadō・Cold-Infused Tea
The summer sun is fierce and unrelenting, yet the lotus blooms quietly in this season, its elegance and composure a subtle answer to the intensity of heat.
In this gathering, we will practice the cold-infusion method of Senchadō,a seasonal approach used specifically in summer.By steeping the tea slowly at a low temperature, the fragrance and sweetness of the leaves emerge gradually like dew forming, like lotus shadows on water.

Senchadō traces its origin to the literati tea tradition of Ming dynasty China, and later evolved in Japan into a tea practice rooted in seasonality, refined utensils, and quiet gestures.

This Summer Lotus Tea Gathering marks the first Japanese-style tea event hosted by Nikko Hill Teahouse.
We believe that tea culture is not a fixed form, but an attitude—one that is willing to pause, observe, and respond with care.
